approx. 50 km. From Nuuk, lies the city's leading excursion destination, Qooqqut Nuan.
Qooqqut Nuan's floating bridge ensures a dry landing, and a walk of approx. 300 meters to the restaurant, which has one of the country's best views.
The restaurant has a selection of local ingredients on the menu, and these are also made with a fusion
of the strong spices of the East, and the European classic cuisine.
You can also choose to bring your own catch and have it prepared in the restaurant.
The ball field and large playground are very popular among the visiting children and playful souls.
In connection with the restaurant, there are a number of cabins that you can rent for overnight stays and explore the area.
In the immediate vicinity are ruins from the Nordboeren settlement from approx. year 1000 – 1350.
At the mouth of the river lie ruins from the Inuit settlements, from the immigration of the Tuleeskimos and finally the old core of buildings from 1947 onwards tells their own story from the late colonial era.
There are plenty of opportunities for hiking in the area, both for experienced mountaineers and beginners.
The botany and geology are also interesting, there is, among other things, a type of rock named after the place: Qooqqut Granite.
In the river and in the fjord there are plenty of opportunities for fishing, on the beach there are mussels and in the mountains there are herbs, mushrooms and edible flowers.
In the autumn season there is the possibility of reindeer hunting, where there is also berry season, and all year round you can collect edible seaweed, which can be prepared with other local products.
A trip to Qooqqut Nuan is worth a trip to Greenland in itself.
